Primary Care Extended Access

A network of GP Practices has been set up across Stafford, Rugeley and the Seisdon area of Staffordshire offering extended opening hours for pre-bookable and same day routine appointments with a healthcare professional (e.g. Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacist, GP).

General Information

Please book one appointment for each patient who wishes to be seen.

To see a Doctor of choice for a routine appointment please allow up to 14 days. We do offer on the day appointments that are available on a daily basis. Please understand we cannot always give you the doctor of your choice as he / she may not be available. Every effort is made to ensure that you are seen on time but if for some reason there is a delay, you will be informed.

Appointments with the Practice Nurse

Our Practice Nurse is available by appointment for injections, diagnostic tests, smears, new patient checks, routine blood tests and blood pressure checks. We also run clinics specifically for diabetes, asthma, well baby, ante-natal, Coronary Heart Disease and hypertension.

Telephone Consultations

If there are no face to face contact or telephone appointments left the receptionist will ask you some questions and the 'Doctor on Call' will telephone you and either give you advice over the phone or ask you to come to the surgery at an appropriate time.

Telephone appointments are only available during surgery hours.

Advice is also available from the NHS 111 service by calling 111 from your landline or mobile phone.

Free Text Reminders

This service reminds you of an appointment via a text message. All registered patients are automatically opted into the service.

Please ensure if you wish to use this service we have your correct mobile telephone number and inform us as soon as possible if your number changes.

If you do not wish to subscribe please contact the surgery and inform reception that you wish to opt out.

Chaperones

If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

You can use one of the following methods:

  3. By Telephone:

  4. In Person: Call into your surgery and let the receptionist know in person.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.

As part of our commitment to all our patients we monitor the efficient use of appointments. If a patient regularly fails to attend a booked appointment, the practice reserves the right to remove them and their family from the practice list.
